To request a term faculty search waiver, please contact Associate Dean Sam Caldis with a complete description of the position and all its responsibilities (including research and teaching) as well as a justification of the circumstances requiring a search waiver, the proposed salary, and the candidate's CV. If a waiver is authorized, academic units may make an unofficial, verbal offer to the candidate and may fill out a Faculty Action Form in Workday. Please upload the candidate's CV, along with a copy of the waiver approval and any available letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations, or other material your academic unit may have used to select the candidate in the Faculty Action Form. Our office will then produce an official offer letter and route it in the same manner as other appointment letters.
Please note that RI law prohibits asking a candidate for their current salary before making an initial offer.
